My son and I just finished his 5th year at camp. The relationships we have built and the technique levels we have unlocked are priceless.
Each student is assigned to a highly skilled teacher for daily mini-lessons. (We have been so lucky to be assigned male teachers. It is helpful for my son to have male role models in this female-heavy context.) Teachers see each student’s technique with fresh eyes and offer unparalleled advice.
My kid works hard and makes lifelong friendships with other students. This year we tried Jiu Jitsu at camp (taught by a young cellist from the east coast) and it was a brilliant companion to the hard work the kids are doing.
Jesse has been singing with the world class camp children’s choir every year with a beloved teacher from Mexico: Tato gives us hugs and remembers our names and offers solos and little gifts. We scream with joy every year when Tato is first spotted on campus and shed tears with culminating performances and goodbyes.
