I encourage families in private lessons to have their studio teachers reach out to their music teachers at school (or vice versa) so that communication is open -this can be so valuable! The musical journey is smoother with integrated support.
I spent a year teaching a middle school orchestra and was able to build a richer experience for each student when I had more context on the techniques they were working on and how.
Several of my studio families have their students at a local music-centered private school. Their music teacher and I share notes about how to better support the students that we are both working with. It is a rich collaboration.
I encourage you to open these conversations! Your student will thrive with the extra, tailored support.
